Tech Tip: EOS was created by the company Block One. Its open source code was released June 1st, 2018. It is a public blockchain. EOS was initially launched on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token but later migrated to their own Blockchain which runs with the help of 21 Block Producers who maintain the network. These Block Producers are elected using the DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) model voting system.
